Bi-Lingual Grey
We now have a bi-lingual Grey. Yes, Boo-Let is now speaking spanish......can you believe that one?!! She says Como esta, Hola, Oye, and Que pasa. Hubby and I were not sure on what she knew before she came to our home, and what she had picked up here, so hubby decided to start with the spanish. One week and she is speaking spanish....... She knows Magnum's name and calls for him, the same with hubby's name, myself and Bu, so we know she learned that here. But, the spanish is definitely a new one and had to of been from here as well. I talked to her previous owner and she said they know zero spanish, so I guess she is a quick study. I ran my recorder (has a one hour tape in it) and she left 1.5 minutes on the end of it for Luther to say his peace alone. The first 58.5 minutes is her talking her beak off. THere wasn't a time span of 5 seconds without something coming from her. Hubby got home from work and I replayed it for him. He laughed his fanny off because he said she reminds him of an acquaintance of ours............LOL. We have a nick name for her....chatty cathy.....hahaha. I can be in the kitchen making coffee, and she knows exactly what I am doing now from the sound, I guess. She will say, "are you making coffee?" Before, she would say, "what are you doing in there?" and I would tell her "I am making coffee". She has turned the sentence around perfect without assistance. That just astounds us to no end.

Boo-let does not cease to amaze me with her ability to use and make her own sentences. What language will you try next? Why stop at Spanish?... Ramses speaks Russian and English but he just chats and chats and chats... Maybe he is too young? Or maybe he needs a friend like Boo-let who can explain to him how this whole language thing works

Lianatch, how old is Ramses? Boo-Let will be 3 in September. She freaks me out sometimes. This is my second week off work, so I have spent a lot of time at home. She talks to me a lot. Asks me what I am doing, wants to know what I am holding (if she hasn't already asked it before), calls for Magnum (when he doesn't come into the living room she will ask me "is he okay?"). How does she know Magnum is a he, or is it a coincidence. I don't know.......she is extremely in tune to everything & everyone around her. She treats Luther like he is a toddler bird. She coddles him with words. Anyone that comes over that she has not met yet she will ask "what's your name?", then if she is more curious she will ask them "what's your last name?" I'll be darn if she puts them together later and will ask "where is so-and-so (uses their exact name)?" She asked me today what her last name is..........LOL. I told her, so we will see what she comes up with later.

I think Boo-let is wild. I would have never believed it if I did not hear other people telling similar stories though. It is just hard to imagine when my Ramses just chats with no particular purpose. He is 2.5 yrs, so not much younger than Boo-let. It is funny, I am on my 2nd week off too! We have been working on the sounds that a doggie and kitty cat make and I think he messes them up on purpose just to annoy me. I know he understands the meaining of numerous phrases and associates them with actions, but to make sentences!...

You can kiss my bird's fanny for all I care. In fact, his fanny is too good for your lips to even touch them.

If he is picking it up, then there won't be anything stopping him now..... Boo-Let will listen first, ask "huh" to get us to repeat it, then before we know it she is saying it.

I think you should put the recording on the computer & let all of us PetLovers hear it. I know of a couple of people off hand that would love to hear that, myself included.

Holy moly, I have chills. That is so completely AMAZING. There is no other way to describe it. Its like another human person is living in your house wanting to know your every move! Too funny. Please do tell us more. I find it completely fascinating. Boy I sure can't spell tonight! Do you speak Spanish to her or did she pick that up somewhere on her own? Wow, sorry I just think that is so cool

Hubby speaks spanish fluent, so he is the culprit...... Her latest venture is bugging the crud out of Magnum. All day today I heard "Magnum, how are you? Magnum, what are you doing? Magnum, come here puppy. Magnum, shhhhhhhh. Magnum, are you okay? Magnum, that's your name doggie. Magnum honey." All day long........poor guy looks at her, then me with the look "what do you want!!"......lol.
I wish I had a way in transfering the audio tape onto the net. Any ideas?
