Doggy with uncontrolled bladder

I think some smaller breeds of dogs get excited easily and this causes them to urinate at the worse possible time. I would check with your vet to make sure there is no physical problem and, if not, would take your doggy for training. I have a friend with a small dog who had the same problem. She took him to obedience school and he is doing much better now.

Good Luck

Bobbie

Is he neutered? If not, he could possibly be marking all of your friends.

It's usually a sign of submission, don't let them put him on their lap make him stay on the floor, and tell them to ignore him until he calms down and then speech and play slowly with him as not to let him get excited.

My brother in laws chocolate lab used to pee when people came to visit. It was a combination bladder infection/excitement problem. They got the infection cleared up and now that she's a year old, she doesn't sprinkle nearly like she used to. Good luck.

If he is lifting his leg to pee on someone its not submission. Its territorial. If my dog were to do it, I;d be mortified and would definetly give him a good correction for such behaviour. Remind him that I am the boss and the boss says that behaviour is completly unaccpetable.

Well then yeah its just submissive urination. Unfortunatly the only cure is like they said, ignore him until he calms down. Do things like soon as you come in the house after being out, don't even acknowldge him from for 5 minutes or if you know company is comming, perhaps keep him away in a room until he has had a chance to calm down.

I have two mini dachshunds, and when the male was a pup he had a problem with peeing when he got excited, scared, upset, happy,... you name it. He eventually grew out of it.
