I had never seen a black lory before yesterday and as soon as I got home I hit the books but there is nothing in my books on black lorys so I'm going to try the net.

...and the net doesn't have much about them either... Has anyone heard of Vasas? They're all black as well, and quite different from other parrots in that the babies grow way faster, the eggs only take 18 or so days to hatch, the female loses the feathers off her head in breeding season and her head turns yellow, etc. I think I'll breed them someday, because I absolutely love them!!! At www.oldworldaviaries.com you can read more about them.

Yeah, I've seen that site before! I think it's great too. I'm hoping that BirdTalk will feature them one of these days- I think I'll even write a letter suggesting it!!! (what bird magazines do you all get???) They're so fascinating, and I doubt too many people have heard much about them. Thankfully, more breeders have been starting to breed them, though I still don't think there's enough to have for pets yet.
