I'm sorry that I do not have any answers for you but I did want to say that my daughter had guinea pigs one time and they did the exact same thing. She never did get a better way but good luck to you because I know what a mess that makes...YUCKY....LOL

She might be bored. Do you let her out for exercise? I made an exercise pen for my Inca and would cover the floor with newspaper and put assorted boxes, greens and interesting things for her. The newspaper was to catch any urine (she stopped using the litter box after age 3) and to keep her from chewing the carpet. This helped alleviate her boredom cuz she had something to look forward to every day. Hope this helps.

I've never heard of a guinea pig doing that. Maybe you could get a bowl for her instead; like a dog bowl with a rubber rim so she can't tip it over. The exercies thing sounds good too.

the idea with a bowl was a good one if you are worried about drowning place a heavy rock or pebbles in it this way she cant tip the bowl over nor drown...for boredom there are endless toys aout there that you could buy or cut a hole in a tennis ball and fill with treats secure them in there and she will have fun for hours trying to get them out ...it will take her a little while to figured it out but over time it will be something she enjoys...over here in australia I freeze there fruit in water in summer not sure how hot it gets where you are...this I thinks give them something to do...another thing my kids found that they love is tunnels made out of old drain pipe the pvc kind...or you could just have a naughty girl and no matter what you do she will do what she likes...i guess that is what makes us love them...

i agree, she sounds bored. some guinea pigs like to bang things around, and they certainly do like their greens. exercise times are definitely going to alleviate boredom... she sounds like quite the brat *g*
good luck

maybe she needs a bigger cage and or a GIRL friend <== the best medicine.

what kind of water bottle does she have? you should have those ones with a metal spout with a metal ball to prevent your situation...

Guniea Pig Water Dish

Hi my max uses a water bottle and is very content but kept dumping his food dish so I attached it to the cage so no more dumping the same can be done with a water dish but if you have concerns of drowning make the dish where it has to step up to it with front feet while back ones still on bottom of cage and when it comes to toys thats a hit and miss but my max liked a basket that strawberries came in and tunnels or tubes that we constructed for him and he loves to go outside he has a little fence that we place right on the grass so he can bink and roll and chow down on grass ok I hope I was able to help.

Does sound like your piggie is bored. make sure when you fill the water bottle that you use warm water that is warmer than room temperature that way the bottle doesn't drip cause it could be doing this too and fill it all the way up. Also, the warmer water will eventually be room temp so don't worry about it being to warm. The warmer water makes it so the water doesn't drip out of the bottle like it may also be doing.

As for piggie toys there are many options as many stores doen't sell toys for piggies. Here are some suggestions: toilet paper rolls, paper towel rolls. Piggies often like to play with these, you can also cut a slit down the middle of these and place veggies in them so they have a treat and a play toy. Boxes, as piggies love to hide and play in boxes. Cat toys that aren't to small and don't have any pieces the piggie could chew off and choke on, as some love to push these around their cages. Bird toys, you can buy some bird toys and hang them from the cage. my piggie loves to play with these often. Also make sure the piggie has plenty of hay, mine often loves to play in the hay and make hay huts to hide in besides laying in it and eating it Well, those are my suggestions good luck!
