Need Nelp With Unfixed Cats!

i have two cat both are not fixed and i have noticed that they are starting to get a little frisky and trying to mate. we went to the vet and they gave them all there shot but the vet said they cant get them fixed untill jan.14th because the doctor will be out. also they say it will cost us 400 bucks to get them fixed do you think that is too high or should we go to diffrent place to get them fixed.

also what should i do to keep them from making babies we try to keep then separeted but its hard to do that 24/7?
Thanks

Have you checked with the Humane Society? They usually have a low spay/neuter fee. $400.00 is very high. My best advice on preventing a pregnancy until they are spayed and neutered is keeping them seperate at all times. I know is is hard, but she will get preg. if they are together even for a brief moment. Good luck and keep us posted on what you find out from the Humane Society.

$400 seems like a lot to me but I guess it varies depending on the vet and on where you live. Is that for both of them or each of them?
Here is a link to low cost clinics listed by state:
http://www.petsandanimals.org/spayneuter_services.html

You could either call and get price quotes from a few other vets in your area or check out the low cost clinics in your area. You may even be able to get them fixed sooner than Jan. 14th if you find another vet to do it. In the meantime, I would try your hardest to keep them seperated. Good luck.

I totally agree that 400 is way to much money, when I got my cat spayed the price was 35.00 and that was about 5 years ago and I know everything is getting more costly but not that bad. I recommend having someone take in one of your cats for you untill she is out of heat or you get her fixed..whichever comes first. It will be very hard to keep them seperated for that long.
