In the bag!

Awgee loves paper bags. So naturally when a paper bag is empty, Awgee gets it as a toy. If it isn't empty, it still is Awgee's toy after she throws all the incidental "toys" out and takes the bag. (In the world according to Awgee, everything is hers.) This particular bag was a snug labhead size and this particular labhead sized bag was shortlived once Awgee's yellow lab buddy, Spencer stuck his head into it and it stuck to his lab-head.
There was Awgee having fun with her paper bag and minding her own business, when Spencer (not minding his own business) decided to see what Awgee might have stashed in the bag. So, he poked her backside with his nose, which caused Awgee and the bag to come off the floor about a foot or so and she ran in the other room. Spencer, then stuck his head into the bag and stood up. Of course the bag, being snug, stuck to his head and he panicked and circled for a moment while whacking the bag with his paw. Meanwhile, Awgee came back into the room to watch the lab circling across the kitchen with his head stuck in a bag. In just a few moments, Spence had dislodged the bag and attacked it viciously, shredding it completely. After the deed was done, Awgee went over and checked out the bag confetti. Poor Awgee. She'd been having fun, until Spencer stuck his nose in.

LOL -- guess Spencer thought he should fit in the bag and have the same fun. I think that animals don't have a concept of what size they actually are ....or are not. Our B&G keeps trying to perch on our shoulder like the little green conure does --- his tail keeps hitting the back of couch so he doesn't really fit and it bothers him. The green cheek has no fear what so ever and will march like a little Hitler across the couch to confront whatever may be annoying him. Animals are amazing. BTW did you get poor Awgee another bag to play with?

Speaking of plastic, yesterday morning I was in a dead sleep until I heard this commotion out in the kitchen. In the processing of flying out of bed, I seen one of my cats come running past me with the handle of a plastic bag around her neck. She was so scared I had a hard time catching her. Looking back it was kind of funny. Of course the results could have not been funny had I not been home and something happened to her.

Talking 'too crazy

Mine use to do that. If I put them in the cupboard they would open the cupboard. Little Boogers !! Anyway I got one of those things that looks like a long cloth cylinder. They have a opening in the top and bottom. You shove the bags in and you can pull them out of the bottom. It has a little loop to hang them up Very HIGH !! LOL I got it at Walmart. I usually get Paper....but some places don't offer paper. Like dept. stores. I put all the plastic bags in there untill it's full then take them to the recycle bin.

plastic bags are a problem here too

Too Crazy - Awgee did that too. It was kind of weird to see her running by because she'd gotten the plastic walmart bag around her neck and also panicked. Like you, I was glad to be there. It could have been dangerous for sure. Like KatMom, I keep the bags out of the way now. I got to see if I can find that bag-hider thingy. For now, I'm just stuffing them into another walmart bag and keep them out of her reach.
Strangest thing Awgee has done so far was when she was really young (about three months old) she got into the roll of toilet paper. She was having a field day jumping on it, tearing at it and rolling in it. At least she was having a field day until she got herself wrapped up like a mummy in it. I heard this meowing in the bathroom. Went in there and there was the cat with only one ear, one eye and the end of her tail showing. She was wrapped tight. Since then, she doesn't get near the evil toilet paper anymore.

Size does matter

Hi dlaura,
I know what you mean about animals not being concious of their size. Anyone who says "size doesn't matter" never had a large dog come loping into the living room and wiping everything out on the coffee table, with his tail. Spencer is so sweet and gentle, however he is also big and glommy, with a tail that could be classified as a wrecking ball. He also thinks that he can fit in little bitty spaces. And nope on another paper bag for Awgee. Soon as I can get one though, it's hers.

That's funny! You know what Awgee would probably love for Christmas? Those oversized paper bags for garden waste (grass clippings, leaves, etc.). Wal-Mart or a supermarket should have them. Jamie really enjoys them.
