Exclamation Fish With ICK What Should i Do??? HELP

ok this morning i woke up and found 1 of my baby oscars covered in white dots that look like salt since iv read about this befor i knew right away it was ick. iv added aqurium salt and raised the temperature to 85 F. This after noon i went to petco and bought some Ick Guard by Jungle since it was the only thing they had to fight ick i could find i had to take it and iv added what the directions told me to add and i had to turn off my power filter becouse it runs on activated carbon and it says not to use that while treating ( if anyone can tell me y ). this is my first time fighting ick and if anyone else has any information and what i should do and how long till i start to see results Please Help i dont want him to die he's that best and smartest fish iv ever had.

I'm really sorry to hear of all the problems you are having. It has been years sinse I had fish so I do not have any answers for you other than the reason you shut off your filtering system while treating for ick is because if you left it running the medicine would be sucked into the filter and therefore of no use for your fish. I wish I could do more but I wanted to answer your post if not for anything else than to let you know there are people reading the threads and you are not being ignored. My best bet would be no one has the answer for you yet, but hang in there because hopefully soon someone can help you out here. Good luck!

Well if you have more then one fish in the tank, separate them, as its very contagious.
I also found this info at http://badmanstropicalfish.com/meds/ick.html

"Ichk parasites can only be killed when they are in the free-swimming theront stage. Medications do not kill the parasites attached to the fish (white spot) or when the parasites are encysted in the gravel. Disappearance of the white spots simply means that the parasites have advanced to the cyst stage. In a few hours or days, depending on water temperature, thousands of infective theronts will burst out in search of a fish host. It is precisely at this point that the medication does its job. Since not all the Ich parasites "hatch out" at the same time, it is necessary to treat the aquarium or pond for several days to insure control. When one fish has ick, all fish in the aquarium or pond will be infected. All fish must be treated. Ich parasites are easily transferred to other aquaria or ponds by nets, hands, boots, etc. Quarantine the infested fish. Do not add or remove fish from the infested aquarium or pond. Begin treatment immediately."

Hope I've helped your little fin-bubs, Good Luck!

These r the foods im feeding him he luvs em

Hikari Cichlid Gold
Tetra Cichlid Granules
Wardley Color Flakes
and on occasion a cube of wardley tubifex worms ( he makes a big mess out of these in the tank)

oo i made a "dish" for my fish it includes everything they love, i put things in here and there, so its not like a have measurements but here it is...

-a few blocks of frozed blood worms, brineshrimp, and vegi mix
-1 container of little champions dog food
-squished up tomatos
-shredded greens
-yeast
-fish flake and granules
-oscar pellets

now, hwile mixing this by hand, i recomend doing this outside, because at first it smells like garbage but after what u do is get out some ice trays and fill like a centimeter or 2 from the bottom with it, (if u have extra u can give it too ur dogs, it is also a dog treat once and a while) put it in a frezer bag, suck out the air, and freeze it, if u r oscar is little, u can keep a little, and roll it into small balls, get somthing flat and freeze those, after about 48 hours, they are fully frozen and float, hope ur fish enjoy
