The egg won't be fertile unless there was a male involved. I'm not sure exactly what to do with the egg...surely someone on this forum is more knowlegeable about this than me. Sorry.

Cheers, Tamara

The egg will not be fertile as long as no males are involved. I would suggest just letting her sit on it (if she is sitting) sooner or later she will get tired and realize it is no good. Sometimes if you just throw them away they will keep laying. If you have a nest box up I would take it down immediatly. Just keep the cage clean do your daily feeding etc....leave the egg and see what happens. Someone may have a different opinion and that is great. It gives you options if the first does not work.
Off the subject here but where are you from? We know some Blevins in Springfield, Mo. Just curious! Good luck with your Cockatiels!

Hi.. you say that you know nothing.. but it sounds like you still want to mate your birds.. Unfortuanately.. there are many things that you need to know before even considering mating your birds.. I would suggest reading up as much on cockateils as you can and really finding out if it is something you can do.. sometimes things don't go to smoothly.
To me it sounds like you are thinking that this is like mating dogs - putting them together once to have the female conceive. For mating, both birds would need to be living in the same cage because the male also helps to raise the babies. Your egg probably isn't fertile..

Great reply HurdyBirdy.....I am in agreemant with the suggestion on learning all about your "tiels first before you do anything. If there are no books that are accessable for you then go on the internet and read, read, read.
