My Fish Is Bellyup!

I Have A Goldfish (kind That Has Really Big Head) That I Have Had For About 1 Year. 2 Other Fish Purchased At The Same Time Are Also In The Aquarium. For The Past Week, The Big Headed One Has Been Having Trouble Maintaining Its Balance. Today It Is Floating Belly Up And Gasping. It Will Eat And Try And Swim Around. The Other 2 Fish Seem Fine. I Change The Water Regularly And Filter Etc. Is There Anything I Can Do For This Fish? Should I Take It Out? Think It May Die Soon But Another Fish In This Group Did The Same Thing About 2 Months Ago And Is Fine Now. Do They Simply Recover On Their Own?

Gosh, I dont know if they can recover on their own. Everytime my goldfish would do this when I was young, they would die . Maybe its the PH balance or conditioning in the water. I hope it'll be ok... good luck.

Might be something to do with the swimming bladder... I dunno.

Try calling the pet store where you got the fish and see if they can help you. Some pet stores will test your wayer if you bring in a sample.

well you should soak the goldfish flakes in water for one minute before feeding them to prevent them eating air.....and does the tank have rapid movement at the top? it should have a filter that does that or an airstone. The oranda has a heavy head and are not for beginners.....maybe if you feed him green peas it'll help frozen and thawed with outterskin,shell removed. well that's what i feed my bettas.....i hope i helped....

I have tropical Fish and one of my Gourami got a really really bloated belly, it died in the end but it couldn't swim because it had floated to the top. I read in a book that my fish had Infectious Dropsy. But I dunno if yours maybe has the same sort of thing. Probably not but I just wanted to check?
