Cat's bottom lip is swollen / inflamed

Hi,

I have a 9 month old kitten and a 4 month old kitten. My 9mo old kitten's bottom lip has become swollen. I noticed it about 4 days ago, and have been watching to see if it will get better by itself.

The first time i noticed, it seemed like he had a cut or scrap on the lip, because it looked like skin was peeling off. That has gone away, but it has become very swollen.

I'm very close to taking him to a vet, but wanted to post somewhere to see if this something that isn't too serious, like a cut from the other kitten from when they play.

Does anyone know what the cause of this is?

Dental calculus (tartar) is composed of various mineral salts,
organic material and food particles. In the early stages of
accumulation, the material is soft (plaque), but it later hardens and
adheres to the teeth. Continual accumulation causes inflammation of
the gums and eventual recession of the gums and loose teeth. The

What the flip? You plagarized a post from another wbesite, and then leave a link to a 4 year old thread that is no help to this thread whatsoever? Very helpful.

To the OP, your cat's swollen lip may very well be the result of your younger kitten swatting the 9 month old cat during rough play. That likely caused the swelling. I would have her seen by the vet, as it may be infected and needs a round of antibiotics.

Thanks for your reply. I read that other guys response, and it sounded a bit weird, surprised ya found the original source to his plagiarism lol.

Anyways, I was thinking that could have been the cause, I'll be taking him to the vet.

Symen's bottom lip was swollen a couple of weeks ago.. I took him to the vet and they seemed to think he got bit or stung by something and gave him a steroid and a benedryl shot, the swelling went "down" the first couple of days, but took about a week for it to go completely away.
