Question Loner Guppy

I have a female guppy in a ten gal tank, w/ 2 ghost shrimp, I'm getting some more fish later today (probably more guppies) but that's not my problem.

A few weeks ago, I had a male in with her, she wasn't exactly ecstatic about having him in there, but she tolerated him. After awhile, I notice she was pregnant ( ) But a few days later, she started chasing him around the tank and nipping his tail, but that only happened a few times. A few more days later the male was just hanging out at the bottom, and I noticed a white patch on his side, and the next day, he had died.

I have gotten all my guppies from the same place, where they keep the males and females separated. All my females have done fine, but all the males I've had have all died, and had that while part on them. Is this some kind of disease, I've done some research, but I haven't found anything that describes this.

Next time I get guppies, I won't get them from that store. But does anyone have any information? Thanks

All of my guppies are still alive, and I've never had any problems with them like you describe.

My guppy had babies awhile ago, a few weeks I think. How long will it be before I can put them in with my adult? I know it should be when they are bigger than the biggest fish's mouth, but how long will that be?

LOL, my neighbor is already counting on getting one of them, I didn't even tell her she could, I said maybe, but guess to a 4th grader, that means "YES! DEFINATELY!!!" oh, well, maybe I can work out some sort of a trade, a guppy for a baby rat (her rat just had babies today, I've yet to see them tho, the mother isn't very tame, and bites anyone who comes close)

BTW, there's 8 babies, she originally had 11, but I was away for the weekend, and my mom noticed them. The other 3 died for some reason that I don't know. I'm hoping they'll turn out to have some pretty colors!

One last thing...When will I start being able to see the colors and find out if they're male or female?

Thanks in advance, and sry for the long post
