Cookie bit me!

Cookie is such a sweet friendly loving cat, but today she really suprised me. I was tickling and scratching all round her head, she loves it. She was pushing and rubbing my hand with her head when all of a sudden she bit me! She didn't leave a mark as it wasn't that hard but I'm just wondering why she did it. It was almost as if she got overexcited by the fussing. Could this be it? I didn't tell her off or put her down on the floor or anything. What do you think, many thanks, Pip

Almost all cats I've known have done this. Ungrateful little boogers! They want attention, then when they're tired of it, they bite you! It could also be possible the scritching turned into (in her mind) some good old rough playtime.

Sounds like Cookie just got a little over stimulated. Cats will show affection and emotion with nipping sometimes, especially when they get carried away, or really into it.

I wouldn't worry about it. My kids will often either grab me with their claws, bite me, or "neko kick" me with their back legs when they get a little over stimulated.

With practice you can usually predict when it's about to cross the line ... at least my kids warn me with body language or verbally

Note: The bites or clawing is usually light and doesn't break the skin.

There is no such thing as a hypoallergenic dog or cat. same with non shedding, give me a break, unless they are naked and or dead, there is no such thing! sorry to break it to you... lets also add Teacups in there too. sorry just a fault in the breeding line! also known as a screw up

Lol Bella and every cat I've ever owned has done this. I think its an ornery gene. In reality, I think it's just playfulness or something maternal-related.

Zoe does the same thing, I don't call them bites but nips. I just take that as a clue she wants some alone time and I stop petting her. Eva has only bite me once, she doesn't even nip. The one time she did it was three days after I got her, I discovered she had an eye inflection. I took her the vet that night and she was scared of me. While I was trying to handle her, the vet tech put the thermometer in her butt, she bite me. Lucky it didn't break the skin but she left a mark.

Deia used to be really bad for actually chewing on my knuckles, and when I brought Rya home she stopped. And Rya has an infatuation with chewing on fingers, she doesn't do it overly hard it just gets irritating when you're trying to love her and she insists on chewing on you!

Have you thought maybe you could have touched a spot that hurt her and she let you know by chomping you?

I don't think it was that, but yeah it's a thought. I haven't since noticed any injuries on her or anything but thanks for the idea Madison, Pip

Fae CONSTANTLY tries to bite my nose. She starts with climbing up putting her face in mine and licking my nose, then they turn to nips. It seems in her mind this is the best way to tell me she loves me. I accept nose licks and rubs but NO bites. when i see her trying to nip and pull away...the next time she tries to bite harder. Usually after a bit of me saying no bite and pulling my face away she stops trying to bite. Animals do nip eachother lovingly. but a little nip can be a bit more painful to us since we arent protected with fur.
