April's Health Declining Quickly

I just wanted to let you all know that our kitty, April, is going downhill very quickly.

The vet ran some tests earlier in the week, her T4 levels are fine but she is currently in renal failure.

I had started discussing this on another thread, but thought I should start a new thread as I don't want that thread to end negatively. Also wanted to give all a heads up - that if I seem to be off or snappy it is probably due to emotions I am dealing with and will continue to deal with for a while. I am aware of this and am reviewing my posts and such before submitting, but I am only human.

Good news is that we met with April's vet yesterday and formulated a plan to help her. Also discussed how she was feeling in general, because we don't want to be selfish and keep her with us if she is in any pain. The vet was so kind, patient and compassionate with us.

After another day without her eating we were very discouraged, however upon getting up this morning and checking on her we discovered she had cleaned out her dishes overnight!

So, positive vibes and prayers would be appreciated. We sure do need them.

I will provide the link to the thread where there is earlier information of what all has happened this week.

I'm still praying she's given one more miracle, so she can spend a little more time with you.

We're here for you Diane.

Whatever happens, we are here for you.

I'm so sorry you guys are going through this. The hardest part of pet ownership is what you're going through right now, and it never gets any easier. My heart goes out to you. I am wishing with all my heart that you and your vet will be able to pull April through this. I know how much you guys love her. I'm sure she knows too, and she is so grateful to have you there for her right now. You will do whatever is best for her 'til the end, she can count on that.

All my best positive vibes scooting across the continents your way. Love and hugs to April. x

Oh Diane I am so sorry to hear about this.

I wish there was more i can do for you, but all i can do is offer you my support, prayers and good vibes.

I hope April pulls through and be with you for a little bit longer.

Sounds like you have a great vet, and that's essential in times like these.

Please keep us updated on how she is doing.

I will be keeping you, your family and April in my prayers.

Well we just gave April her first sub q liquids under the skin and it went pretty easily and she didn't seem in pain or anything from it. Except when we tried to do it in her hind end.

The vet has us giving her 75 cc in two areas daily. (150cc total) This is so one area doesn't bulge out.

She still wants to be with us and is spending most of the day at our sides, so until she indicates pain, or stops eating, we will continue to care for her. I am on top of it though that she not suffer or anything.

Thank you all for your support. I want those of you who replied to know it means a lot to me.

I just found this thread. I'm sorry that you're going through this Diane. Its the unfortunate, unavoidable side of pet ownership. I'm thinking of you and April, sending positive thoughts her way. x

I'm glad the liquids went well and April isn't in any pain. I hope she stays pain free and content. You're in my thoughts a lot Diane, it's the worst part of having a pet, when they get poorly. Lots of love to you always, Pip xxx
