She's such a cutie little thing. I had her on my knee earlier today, while I was slouched on the couch, and she kept tilting her head the same angle as mine to look at me. Aww. (She was probably thinking "Look at that lazy mare, what a slob.")
Her neck's gone all odd... not exactly bald, but bald when she tilts it, because all her feathers go up with her head and down with her body, so you can see this pink scrawny neck just there, all scrawny and pink and wrinkly.
She let me tickle it with a finger. Lol. And she let me give her a little kissy, which I never normally do. And when I did she crawled up my face to sit on my head. I popped her back on my leg and she shuffled along right up to my toes and sat there for a while. I wiggled them, she pecked them.
She's getting more lovely and affectionate the older she gets. But the poor old sod has a really hard time flying these days, so she flaps like mad only to get barely any height and then crash land. I catch her most of the time.
I'm so proud of her, really. Her friend died in Oct '07, and I didn't think she'd be okay without him. He used to feed her and fuss her and take care of her. She was always so useless and would just sit there ordering him about. When he died she was left in their indoor aviary and it was too big for her all by herself. She looked lost in it. So I moved her to her cage and she's just thrived since then. She never seemed unhappy to be alone and eats like a pig.
Anyway, just felt like sharing what a sweetie pie she is.
I'll never have another bird, so I hope she sticks around for as long as possible. Poor old lass.
