Don't know what to do

Hi Everyone!
I have a almost 12 yr old cat that has a swollen butt & don't know what is wrong. We have taken him to the vet & they say he's a healthy cat & don't know either but have put him on a high fiber food & I give him filter water.
We moved to LA & been here a yr & this is when this happened. The vet took blood & had stool sample & find nothing wrong but I believe there is something wrong...Anyone have an idea what this is? He's not over weight & is an indoor cat but have been letting him in back yard to eat the grass. I have another cat same age & she's totally fine.

So I'm trying to figure out what a swollen butt looks like on a cat. What exactly do you mean? Which specific area is swollen? You say he is a male... has he been neutered? Your vet seems to think he is fine though which is strange. If you feel like there is something wrong, you can always get a second opinion or just be persistent with your vet. You know your cat the best. By swollen butt, do you mean it could be perhaps a tumor? Again, I'm not really understanding what a swollen butt is on a cat. I don't know if I've helped any, but if you really believe something is wrong with him, stay persistent.

There are many things that could be wrong with your kitty. He may have blocked anal glands (which can be very serious) or tumors or constipation.

do you mean his anus is protruding, or is there swelling?

Good for you fro taking him to the vet. However if you are not happy with the diagnosis and recommendations of the vet you have seen, most definitely bring him to a different vet for a second opinion.

Could you post a picture of the area?

Welcome to petlovers, and please do keep us updated on how your beloved kitty is doing.

PS I recommend you stop letting him out at all. You can't know what is on the grass in your yard. If you want him to have grass, grow a little container of "cat grass" for him. You can find the little kits in most pets stores or walmarts, etc.

I am also going to ask if he's neutered, and I'm also going to ask you if the vet expressed his anal glands at all? If they are very full, you can sometimes see them from the outside, and they can abscess and rupture if they are not emptied.
