Shannon Hicks- Sociopath Vet i am dealing with in Katy, Texas

I posted about this about a month or so ago. This Vet Shannon Hicks of ,Old Town Animal Hospital on Avenue D in Katy, finally sent me some records on my girl. It took 6 weeks of asking, emailing, a website dedicated to him, and a certified letter telling him we are going to court if he keeps refusing to send me her records.

So when i got them, they were incomplete. No mention of what type of anethesia was used or the amount. He did no blood work at all before the surgery. When i asked what went wrong his reply was "nothing really" I was only charged 40 dollars for anesthesia, seems real cheap considering she was over 160 lbs.I sent them to a person in NV who is considered to be a Great Dane expert. She went through them and sent them to a guy that used to serve on the Vets Board in NV. Right now the Tx Vet Med examiners board is investigating Shannon Hicks of Old Town Animal hospital and David Thurmond of Katy Pet Clinic on Franz Road. Shannon Hicks owns both of these.

I started a blog on Myspace www.myspace.com/hicksneglectkilledmydog

I have received msgs in my inbox, with horror stories from other pet owners about this Shannon Hicks. Since i've started my blog, Shannon Hicks redid his whole website, now there is pictures of every employee kissing a dog or cat.

I've seen how this guy is up close in personal, he would be considered a sociopath. I never received an apology or anything from this man. Just threats from his employees and Lawyer, if i take him to court. He even filed a false police report saying i went up tho his clinic raising hell, which is not untrue. He couldn't even tell the detective what day this supposedly happened or who the witnesses were. He did this after i sent him a certified letter demanding my dogs records.

It's scary to think that there are really bad vets out there, as our animals can't tell us what's happening with them. I suppose it's inevitable that there are though, there are really bad people in every walk of life. Too bad no one complained about this one before you, many lives may have been saved.

It sounds to me like he knows he's in the wrong and is trying to get you to go away. Keep on it, your dog and all the other animals hurt by him deserve justice. It is a shame, people like this ruin the name of vets everywhere.

The support i have gotten is unreal. I've had two lawyers that emailed me and now are working the case for free. Two different Vet's and a great dane expert have reviewed the my dogs surgical records and all three have told me the same thing.

Breaks my heart that i trusted Shannon Hicks @ Old Town Animal Hospital, with the health of my dog. I am 100 percent positive if i went to a different Vet, i would still have my girl with me.

I'm really sorry for what you have been through. As pet owners, this is one of our biggest fears. It's so frightening to think that there are such terrible, uncaring vets out there.

Very sorry for what happened. So scary to think about this. Pursue this as far as you can. Obviously this vet has no feeling or emotions and should not be allowed to practice anymore!! what a shame

That is so sad...and that doctor is not the only awful one out there. There's one here that was fired from a different clinic because she euthanized too many animals...it's upsetting, it really is. But, it definitely sounds like they are in the wrong and know it.

Keep at it I'm in Australia but I'm with you 100% at least if you keep going you can stop it from happening to someone else's pet.

You know, I can understand an error in judgement. Vets are fallible humans, and can't be right 100% of the time, and sometimes those errors will have tragic consequences. But to not care? That's another matter. I think it's time for this one to seek another line of work.

Amen. We make mistakes all the time, fortunately none resulting in death, but some with some pretty severe consequences. But, we fix our mistakes and we make sure the owner understands exactly what happens, even when it's our screw up. It's called being an animal lover and an honest business. It's so upsetting that there are people out there who will lie and fight it tooth and nail just to save face.

I really feel for you, as I have had to deal with a very uncaring, nasty vet this week as well, and its very unsettling to deal with someone who does what they do "ONLY" for the money, with no feelings at all for the pets they are being trusted to care for. Its awful. :-(

(Dr.?) Shannon Hicks

Hello, I am wondering on your outcome with your horrible experience with this doctor. I was looking him up, as I took my babies in for a grooming at this location and was completely dissatisfied. I decided to look him up and am just shocked at all the bad reviews on here. I cannot believe this place is still open! Thank you for your time. Bella

I know this is an old thread, but when I saw it bumped, I did some research. This vet was in trouble for inhumane treatment of animals, before this case ever came about. Read here... http://texasveterinaryrecords.com/TX...on_2007-01.pdf
