Darwin and cottage cheese

I turn my back for one minute and he's into my cottage cheese...

Darwin is so cute! And it's great that he loves to share your food with you. What other foods does he like?

Thanks for sharing the photo!

He loves breakfast cereal and milk. I can't keep him away. On day I answered the phone while eating breakfast and I came back to my cereal and Darwin had one foot in the bowl and was picking out the good stuff...

What a fabulous photo! I have to watch my food extremely closely whenever my birds are around too, and no matter what, if they see something they want they find a way to get it- even if that means climbing into the box or chewing a hole through the sack!

What a handsome boy. He looks very gregarious. I heard parrots are lactose intolerant....does the dairy product affect Darwin at all.

I've heard about the lactose intolerant thing in birds too, but read that small amounts for some birds are ok, but for others even a little bit will cause them to have a reaction. My birds have all at one time or another managed to sneak some milk or yogurt and all have been perfectly fine, though I never intentionally give it to them. I've started using soy milk on cereal instead of regular though because my birds always like eating it with me!

It would seem that our parrots are like people - some people can tolerate dairy products and others are lactose intolerant. Just amazing!
