notifications problem
Is anyone else having this problem?
I'm not getting notification of new posts in subscribed threads, nor am I getting notifications of PMs. I have not changed my options on receiving these notices.
Then.....every few days I open my e mail box and there will be about a hundred notifications all at once, notifying me of every single post that's been added to every thread I'm subscribed to, and every pm I've been sent, even after I've already been in the forum and read them.
This has been going on for at least a week, and I think longer.

I've gotten my PMs fine, but sorry I don't have any subscribed posts so can't help you there.

Yup, my PM notifications are coming about a day late, and the one subscribed thread I'm not getting notifications on at all. I was blaming my dial up though.

I'm getting the PMs, I'm just not getting the notifications that they are there.
this forum is very slow on my old computer with my old dial up. Sometimes it takes a full minute for a page to load.
I subscribe to the threads I'm posting in or am interested in following because it saves me a lot of time to be able to read them offline, and compose answers off line. So not getting those notices is very inconvenient.
I'm sure it's just a glitch that will work itself out in time, I've had similar troubles in other boards now and then and eventually the problem is resolved. I was just wondering if anyone else was having problems.
Am I the only person here who uses the subcribe to thread option?

I used to, but I follow so many threads that soon I had dozens upon dozens. It just got way to confusing.
I find it easier now to first check the 'new posts', then if I felt I've missed something, I'll check 'today's posts'.

I too went to the New Posts, I only use the subscribed threads if there is something I want to follow closely and am going to be on another site, like when Freklz was so sick. Then I can just look in the corner of my screen and see that I have a new e mail.
Since new posts is a search, I don't know if it will work on your machine or not Special. One of these days we are both going to have to get more modern machines, or be left out of everything. If kittys would quit getting sick, and Gary's plant goes back on 7 days next summer I think I'll talk to Ralph about putting a newer used one on layaway, or maybe just getting some help for this one.
All my PM and subscribed thread notifications from last night were waiting for me this morning.

I am able to use the "new posts" search, but I don't have any "todays' post" search option.
Anyway that doens't change the fact that I rely on the subscription notifications, because the post (and PMs also) is IN that notification, so I can read it off line, or at least, off the forum.
oh well just looking for something to complain about I guess. haha.

Are you sure you don't have the 'today's posts' option? I didn't know about it until someone told me where it was.
On your bar above the messages is the option for quick links. Today's Posts is the first option on the pull down menu, when you click on it.
Here is a pic showing you where it is found.

Special has a computer that is a soul mate to mine, and is a little tempermental. Some searchs and the blogs overload it and cause it to crash. Toopid pooters! Ha, at the time that two year old Parker began repeating my condemnations of the computer it was more toopid Nana than toopid pooter, but Nana has learned a lot in the last two years. Enough to have way more stuff stored than the old machine can easily process, but not enough to know how to select more than one item at a time to save to a disc. rolleyes:

I will be sure and bring this thread to Mr.P's attention sometime later this evening or tomorrow. Don't want to bother him during the work week unless it is a dire emergency.

dlaura, I seem to be getting notices in a "timely manner" again. However the problem seems to come and go, so Mr P may want to know aobut it, though it is not an emergency or even urgent issue.

I found it, thanks. Never knew it was there before. I still like getting the notifications, though. Any click on this old dinosaur takes an age.
