Baby Fish [Apistogramma Agassizi]

My apisto has just spawned and I was wondering if baby fish [especially apistos] need any extra care. The eggs haven't hatched yet but I presume they will tomorrow.

Those are beautiful! Are they aggressive? The only advice I can give is to call a pet shop that deals in fish only. We have fish too and one fish carries the babies in her mouth until their big enough not to be eaten and we have other fish where we have to take the eggs out as soon as we can so they won't be eaten. All of this came from some very knowledgable fish breeders. So if someone here can't help you, try that. Good luck!

Yep they're pretty fish and expensive too, our pair cost $94.50. With a 20% discount off a 10% discount. The 20% was because the fish was becoming a 'senior citizen' at the shop and the 10% because I'm a member. I just checked today and the eggs are gone. I hope what you said is true about the fish carrying the babies in her mouth. But yesterday we caught a guppy eating her eggs. We tried to catch it out but BAM! the apisto came along and slashed it along the mouth. She bit the guppy until it died.

Calculation error. It's $94.50 without the 10%. So 80% of the original price is $94.50. Argh, we're learning percentages in school now. Sick of solving percentage problems.

Hi Lano,
Sorry to hear of your troubles, I've found a link that might be helpful for you should they deside to spawn again. http://www.aquarticles.com/articles/...stogramma.html

Apistos are one of my favorite fish, wishing you all the luck.

The female died last week, and none of her eggs hatched. She spawned twice actually - it was after the second batch got eaten then she started acting funny. If I hadn't had a piano lesson I could have gone home early to feed the fish then SHE WOULDN'T HAVE DIED!!!
