Unhappy Gum on his paw!

Chico and Homer went on errands with me all afternoon. Somewhere, Chico picked up some gum and it is all over his pads on his front paw. What a mess! The poor guy got into the car and was biting at his foot and pulling a stringy mess with his mouth. I've pulled off most of it. What will help get the rest of it?

Wouldn't you know it, he's the one most sensitive about having his paws touched. Don't you just hate people who drop their garbage/gum just anywhere?

I've heard that peanut butter can help get gum out of hair. However, I've never tried it.

I've heard that if you get run ice and run it along the gum it should make it stiff enough to get out more easily.

How feasible that would be for your dog's sensitive paw... that's hard to say.

kittemom is on a distinguished road
Goo-Gone works great to remove gum from surfaces and clothes, but I have no idea if it's okay on pets. It has citrus in it, but not sure what else.

I never thought of peanut butter, but I tried the ice. Let's just say that Chico wasn't too happy. He let me do it, but he didn't like me too much afterward. I think that allowed me to get most of it off...the rest will have to wait until the undersides of his paws get a bit of hair so that I can trim. Poor guy. He is my most fastidious baby.
