Do lots of research.

Sun conures are very playful and beautiful, but very very loud and demanding.

P.S. Lots of people buy them for their beauty.....but eventually can't deal with their screaming, loud nature and end up giving them up.

If you still think you want one after the reaserch check birdtalk magazine. Also do searches on the internet.

Done tons of reasearch. Thinking about a Gold Crowned Conure. They behave more. Or else a cockatiel.

A cockatiel would be a good choice, but there's also many types of conures that would be great too. It seems like most people go for sun conures because they're very common and colorful, so many many people miss out on the other kinds. Have you thought about a Half-moon conure? Dusky conure? Sharp-tailed conure? Souance's conure? Green conure? Orange-fronted conure? Maroon-bellied conure? There's many, many different kinds that all have slightly different pet qualities. As far as sun conures go, they can behave extremely well too and be just as good as any of the others, it just has to do with the owner. I think many start screaming problems because their owners spoil them since they are so cuddly and make them think that they are #1 in the house! Anyway, let us know what happens and good luck finding the right kind for you!

How about Pionus Parrots

If I have, in fact, mentioned this to you before, please excuse me.

I have a feeling that you both are going to suggest pi's to every single member here! They must be terrific! However, as my duty to my two wonderful conures, I have to put in a few good words about them as well.

Jenny:

LOL. I love all birds, and all have wonderful traits, though I feel that the Pionus Parrots have very little exposure to the public. Perhaps it's because they became known only as far back as the 19th century or because some people think they are not as colorful as other species. Their personalities make up for it.

I would love avian lovers everywhere to know more about these precious, good natured, intelligent and beautiful species of parrots. They are worth looking into.

P.S. Conures are great....I love them too.

Just incase I'm not annoying enough, here is the site again:

hehehe

Ha-ha! I agree with you completely though. I know that they are great birds from articles I've read, a few I've met, and from hearing about yours, so they definitely do deserve more exposure. BTW, that site is really wonderful, so your'e not annoying me with it anyway!

I'd also suggest a pi!! They are so sweet. I have a white capped pionus. They are so adorable. Sophie is also quite intelligent. This morning I woke up late and went downstairs to feed her. When I uncovered her cage she looked at me and said Well it's about time. Well Pionus are wonderful. I love that site. I plan to buy Sophie the medium bird toy kit. It looks like Ton's of fun.
