When my mouse was pregnant I used the aspen bedding plus gave her lots of torn up paper which she'd carry piece by piece to make a nest with. I also gave her other little bits of things (tissues, string, etc.) which she'd either decide to use or leave where I dumped it. I don't see why Timothy hay wouldn't work. Do you have homes in mind for the baby mice? Just asking because I used to have tons of mice which started when my dad bought me a male and my brother a female, not thinking to check their gender. We only had one cage so put them together, and within weeks there were 7 babies. I hadn't separated the male soon enough, and after a little while longer, there were 7 more babies. Then one of the females escaped her cage and yep, within a few weeks she had 7 as well. The first five found homes relatively easily, but after that I was stuck keeping most of them, and that meant tons of cages. Male mice will fight, so each had to have his own cage once they reached maturity. I can't tell you how tired I got cleaning cages and feeding/watering them each day. Let us know how it goes though! Young mice are one of the cutest animals, IMHO. What colors are the male and female?
