How to tell type of parrot

Can anyone help me find out what type of bird flew into my house?
It looks like a parrot, rounded beak, green and yellow.
IIf I had pictures maybe I could see something like it.

I just posted a thread with a picture of an amazon. Check it out, it sounds like you may have had one of those fly into your house. If I am not correct please let me know if it is large or small.

looks almost the same.
Back of head and wings are yellow with black stripes.
rest of body light green.
Top of beak is light blue and looks like it has 2 eyes on it.
it's about 15 cm. (6 inches)

I live in Israel so maybe you can tell also by the climate.

If you bring it to a pet store or a vet, they may be able to tell you exactly what it is. Also I don't know if people do this to birds where you live, however I had a small microchip inplanted in my largest birds neck. If lost, he will be scanned and a number will come up. Using this number my info can be found and I can get my bird back. If they do that where you live, you could bring the bird to have it scanned for a chip.

Yes, I agree with Jenny. If it is only 6 inches long, with black stripes on yellow back and head, it definitely sounds like a budgerigar (parakeet).

Hyamk, go to your search engine and look up parakeet or budgerigar and you should find some photos and descriptions.

That's my suggestion.

Good luck. Talk care of the little one, he must be very frightened.

Yes , with the info u gave me it seems a male budgie.
The kids love him (I have 7(Kids not birds

))
I had him loose with windows closed for about 5 days. My daughter bought him a small cage, but according to what I see on the web I should get a big cage, and maybe another parrot to keep him company.
If you can help me with more tips I'd appreciate it very much.

Bravo Hyam. So glad you identified the little baby and glad you are keeping him. Get the largest cage you can afford, but remember, the bar spacing should not be larger than 1/2 inch or the budgie can stick his head through and get stuck and suffocate.

Budgies do very well kept alone and will bond with the family that way. I started with 1 budgie then got 3 more. Now they are so content with the company of each other and have not bonded with my family. But, they are so cute and lovable in their own quirky ways.

If you have a vet available, ask him to clip his flight feathers a bit so that you can handle him better, or you may know someone who can show you at a pet store.

yes get the birds wings clipped it will help. my budgie did very well as a one budgie bird he loved humans and never wanted to be in his cage.

Thanks again to all of you.
We started calling him Shuki. In hebrew a parrot is called TUKI, and my kids read a book about Shuki the TUKI, so the name stuck.
I'll see about getting his wings clipped. I have no Idea where there is a vet, and I don't get around to the pet shop very much.
