I'm new to the forum...just signed up yesterday. I love my dachshund Meadow. She is our second doxie. We got our first first doxie from a shelter and his name was Otto. Unfortunately, we had to put him down because his back went out and we didn't want him to suffer with all the surgery and rehab (he was about 7). Meadow is a "rescue" in my eyes. A coworker told me that some people she knew had this cute little dog that they didn't want any more. It took some talking to my husband to get her since it had been only about a month after we lost Otto. When he finally (reluctantly) agreed, we took her to the vet the day after we got her. She was heartworm positive and had intestinal worms and the last words out of the previous owner's mouth as I left with her were, "She hasn't had her shots" (probably never did).

I'd like to have a few more dogs, but the other half won't agree to even one more (sigh). Oh well.

Glad to be here with other dog (animal) lovers.

Welcome XNavykat! I am also fairly new to this site & I too have a wonderful little Mini Wirehaired Dachshund named Frank. I am glad to see a fellow Doxie lover here. Frank is my first Dachshund, but not my first dog, we also have a Corgi, Malamute & Rotti Mix. I'd love to see some pictures of little Meadow, if you have some available. I've attached a photo of Frank sunning himself in the window.

And if your really love dachshund Meadow why not get another one, they are lovable or other breed.

Hi and Welcome! Yes please post pictures! I understand the problem with the husband, my fiance (we've lived together for 2 years now) doesn't really care to have pets. He likes dogs, just doesn't see the point in a 'pet' everything should have a purpose. Sheesh!
