Yes, I will absolutely be getting it when it becomes available, and I've already had my seasonal flu vaccine almost a month ago. I have asthma, so for me, the flu is worse than for healthy people.
There's been, as of this morning, 12 deaths in my state. This morning, a 14 year old boy died after having it for only 3 days, one of the quickest deaths yet.
A completely healthy 19 year old, with no underlying conditions, died last month. And I knew her.
So yes, I definitely will be getting it.

I'm fine thanks!! As a flu goes it's horrible but it's not THAT bad. A lot of people die from influenza every year, swine flu is no different.
I couldn't take tamiflu so I was on paracetamol and completely recovered

My husband, two step sons and I all had the H1N1 vaccinations yesterday. I have Type II diabetes, my husband has heart problems and his 17 year old son has cerebral palsy. We are all in the high risk categories. If any one of us had gotten sick and passed it on to 17 year, it could very easily kill him. So we aren't taking any chances.
I'm not saying it is right for everyone, but for us it was.

I won't be getting the H1N1, or any other vaccine. My sister's a nurse and has advised all of us that it's not worth it. They put some questionable materials in the vaccine to make it faster. She also advised my sister not to get it for her children.
I don't believe it to be a safe vaccine. I'm young and healthy anyway, so it's not a big deal for me. I don't think it's been advertised as accurately as it should be.

I think you were smart to do so Sue. Many have died already from this flu. If you or your family are in the 'at risk' group, getting the vaccine seems smart to me.

My youngest niece Bre had parvovirus B19 and then the whole family came down with swine flu - her included.
And they all survived, even with Bre's immune system so severely compromised. It gives me hope!
Three people have already had the swine flu at Wendy's, and I'm sorry, but I work with the public too much. If I'm going to get it, there's no amount of prevention I can do; I will get it. In fact, I may have already had it because I was sick when everybody started.
They say it's a lot more contagious than the usual flu, but it's not as dangerous, if that's any consolation.
But a lot of our schools have closed or are closing - in the area - until we get more people better.
I think people with compromised immune systems, or already have a hard time fighting bugs, should definitely consider the vaccine, but people who think they may already have it should go to the doctor and get on tamiflu before anything gets more serious.

I'm going to pass, we have a shortage in Madison right now and I want to make sure that who need it the most get the shot. Over the last decade by my own court I've received over 60 vaccination due to being in the Army, they pump you full of everything under the planet. I've got two yellow shot records full, I'm pretty sure I've got to be immune to everything at this point (except smallpoxs, got out of that shot due to a skin condition). I don't get sick easily, right now the full is making the office round so I'll have to see if I dodge the bullet.

I have swine flu right now actually .. yeah, it's the flu, it sucks, but I'm going to make it. I've had it already for 4 weeks... thats the main thing that sucks about it, it lasts forever! I haven't even bothered taking any drugs for it.. there's a state of emergency in my county... a ton of people have it, and we have no vaccines, no medicine, or anything.. I figure, i'm young, and healthy, I'll save the meds for some one who really needs them.

Many schools around here have had closings due to H1N1. A friend of mine is down with it right now.
Personally I will not get the vaccine. Once in my life I got a flu shot, and I have never been as sick as I was after that shot. I know that vaccines are different these days, but I am not going there.
One community nearby got a shipment of the vaccine and nobody showed up to get a shot. Not one single person.

Wish they'd ship them here. The vaccines have made it to our state, but are spread far and few. And the vaccines that are being given out, are so in demand, they are running out faster than they can get them.
In my state, 5 children have died in the last two weeks, all within 3 days of getting H1N1. They were healthy, with no under-lying conditions. One was a highschooler on the football team. Someone I personally know died 2 months ago. She was a highschooler about to graduate, and had no underlying conditions whatsoever. She was athletic, and on the swim team. She died a week and a half after getting H1N1, and I can tell you now, it was a hell of a way to die.
With asthma, I've had my seasonal flu shot already and my 5-year pneumonia shot, which was taken last year. I'm awaiting anxiously for the H1N1 vaccine to arrive, I'll be first in line with my sleeve rolled up.

I got the regular flu vaccine and the student did such a bad job I'm not even sure I got the medicine other than a 7 day bruise. Not happy it was a student at that, I don't allow students to work on me because its always a disaster, let them learn on someone else!!! no I'm not getting the vaccine, I don't get out that much, and iif you are on top of it you should be able to take care of it. Not to mention the swine flu vaccine is only in experimental stage from the fda, so no let the fda find rats or something dead to experiment on and not people

Update on swine flu in the area. The church I go to is so worried about the spread of this disease that they are not suggesting we hold hands during the our father, he has ommitted the shaking hands portion (give us peace) part of mass, and the holy water has been taken out of the vestibules! Funny that they're still giving out communion wine and eucharist though... I don't take either as I haven't gone to confession in over 10 years, so I don't worry about that anyways, but what about all the people who go to our church? Especially the elderly or the ones with compromised immune systems? Maybe we should get dixie cups and pour out the communion wine to people? I would think the wine would be the most contaminating part of mass. Hmmmm....

Rest assured, the vaccine has definitely been tested on plenty of innocent animals already. Ferrets, actually. Doesn't mean sweet F.A though, of course, seeing as testing on animals doesn't mean sweet diddly squat about how a human being will respond to a vaccine, or any drug for that matter.
But, it's the law that an animal has to be subjected to any new medicine before it can be available to humans, so yes, it's definitely already had its share of trials on those who have no voice and apparently no worth at all.
It's down to people who are willing to try things out like this that we'll ever know if it actually works or not. This could save lives, it could not. We'll never know unless people have it "tested" on them first. At least humans have the right to make that decision for themselves.
