Gerbil breeders near Dallas Texas?

Hello!

I'm looking to adopt a pair of gerbils. I would prefer to get them from a good local breeder rather than a big-box pet store. I'm in the Dallas, Texas (DFW) area.

The only breeder I found in the area (on the American Gerbil Society site), Lone Star Gerbils, doesn't appear to be active anymore. I couldn't find any for adoption at nearby shelters either.

If anyone could like me up with a breeder in the area I would really appreciate it.

Hi, welcome to pet lovers! You might try looking for a rescue instead of a breeder, maybe you'll have more options. I mean, beyond your local shelter. Search rescue rather than shelter.

How would I look for rescues as opposed to shelters? I tried PetFinder.com and didn't come up with anything reasonably nearly. (Closest was 260 miles away!)
