missminieggs is on a distinguished road
need help pls

hi my cat has given birth to 2 kittens (last night) she has had all her maternal instincts kick in even though she is only 10 months. The smaller of the 2 kittens is struggling to latch on without help and is getting less than the larger of the 2. what should i do. do i leave her to it and hope that its getting enough or do i intervene? also she keeps mouthing them like she is going to pick them up but not moving them and im scared she is going to try and kkill them (maybe she dosnt like my smell on them or because she is young and inexperienced) any advice is greatly appreciated.

You may have to hand raise/bottle feed the runt, if she is not getting enough to eat. Go to a pet supply store and get some KMR and a nurser or syringe. Do some searching on the internet about how to bottle raise a kitten, there are some good sites.

When the kittens are weaned, please get the mother spayed. Keep her inside, and all intact males away from her, until you do, as she can go back into heat at any time.

Please spay and neuter any other intact cats or dogs and rabbits you have.

Welcome to petlovers, and do let us know how the kittens and mother are doing.
