Helping Pets Beat the Heat

Hello everyone,

Got any good tips or tricks for helping pets beat the summer heat? I'm in California this summer and a lot of the coastal homes don't have AC, since they rely on the ocean breeze, but boy is it still hot!

I like to freeze liquid filled cups and then place them in my rabbits cage for her to lean against and cool down. I also got a small desk fan that I placed near our cat's bed and she seems to like it. Anyone have any household items they use to help pets cool down?

Cheers,
TaggRep

There are simple cooling beds that can be refrigerated for hours that can insert or place under any regular bed to make it cooler.

Get water bowls in a shady place and adding ice cubes to them will help. My chickens like to cool off by sitting on top of my small strawberry bush.

Thank you Pet-Vet! Good idea, it's supposed to get even hotter along the coast this week in California.

...fans? ...window units? ...in Texas, you die without fans, air conditioners, or window units. Especially animals who have fur coats.

Just in addition to other replies, you may also try to groom your pet, hair cutting or trimming the coat. Bathing or misting them sometime will cool them down too. Prodividing them water at all times, maybe getting a Pet fountain will help too.
