i hate my job sometimes

So here i am balling my eyes out at work just found out my favorite sweetest golden has cancer all in chest. Dr said its all through out and surgery cant be done. This just sucks. I need to learn how to not get emotionally involved with the animals.

I'm so sorry. It's a good thing that you care so much but I know how hard it is. Sometimes it seems it would be nice to stop caring, close your heart to it, have an easy life unaffected by life's cruelty. But of course that's not an option. Must bear the grief with the love. I wish the poor dog the best.

That's understandable though, it's hard not to get attached or emotional even when they don't belong to you. I remember an old Golden at the kennel I use to work at. I think he had cancer as well, he was such a sweet dog. There were certain dogs there that I really, really got attached to, dogs that came in pretty often.

Thank i get attached to alot of them. He boarded alot at the kennel. As much as i could try its just not possible for me not to care. The owner is going to take him to an oncologisf to see if there is amything to be done. Of course the dog came in wagging tail and practically knocked me over licking my face.

It is impossible not to get emotionally involved. What you can do is try acceptance. Think about it. You knew that your dog wasn't going to be with you forever. So this moment is just as worse as any other future moment. But then again, I have heard of cancer being treated so, don't feel too sad and keep your hopes up.

I'm so sorry... that is the main reason i would not want to be in your line of work...
Even if you do know that your pets are not going to be with you forever; it can be so hard letting go; and so painful..
they are soooo loving and forgiving,, just their loyalty and ALWAYS there for you no matter what..
Even knowing that they are going to "a better place" doesn't help much with the initial grief and pain..
