Keet,Tiel, or Lovie? Which way do I go?

Hi all,
I am new to the forum, and from what I've been reading you all are a great bunch of helpers.
So here goes! I am desperately wanting a little darling I can snuggle, cuddle, and call my own. Don't know which to pick from the 3 Keet, Tiel, or Lovie. Have a breeder in the area who has Tiels, and Keets. The tiels she tames, and keets are just fooled with some. I love all 3 kinds and am kinda leaning toward the keets since I have had more of them, but my question is since they are raised by a breeder instead of petshop would they be easier to tame even though she doesn't fool with them much? Also I see alot of people saying give them treats for good behavior and training. What are some good little treats for these little guys, that you can keep on hand that don't spoil.
I love all little birdies, just can't decide which would be best for me and I also have 2 children ages 9 & 12 who would also be wanting to hold the little darlins so they must also be kid friendly.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Would get one of each kind if I had the room.LOL

I would have to say a tiel since I have never had a lovie or a budgie...and because they are my fav (if you can't tell my my sig lol). They are great little birds and if you get a hand tame one very sweet and cuddly. I have heard that lovies can be nippy..but it depends on the bird of course. It would be alot of work if you do decide to get a bird that hasnt been hand tamed but it can be done..there is a better chance of taming a young one too..but there is always a chance that the bird will stay wild though so I would get a hand fed one if you can (or one that has been parent raised but socialized..a parent fed baby can be just as tame if the breeder actually takes the time to socailize it). Good treats are cereals that arn't real sugary.. like cheerios or stuff like millet.

'Tiels are my favorite too because as RachelLynn said, if they are hand tamed they are the gentlest bird I know of. Lovebirds can be nippy and most are. Parakeets (Budgies) are a little more fragile than I would like for the kids but that also depends on how well your children know birds. Some know more than a lot of adults I know.hahahahaha.....Our grandchildren favor the the 'tiels because they feel secure themselves when they feel "weight" on their hands. Good luck on whatever you choose and keep us posted!!!!!

Lightbulb Getting Closer to Decision

I have discovered a lady in my area who raises keets and tiels. I think I will maybe just go by and play with all of them and then see which one I fall in love with... that could be a bad thing may come home with too many..... I do love all birds.....even the little darlins outside. Thanks for all the great advice. I'll let you know what happens.
