I have two 11-week old chihuahua puppies, 1 male, 1 female.

The female (who is .25 lbs smaller than the male) developed two white bumps on her head Wednesday. On Thursday, there were four bumps, and the two original bumps had gotten larger. The male does not have any bumps.

This morning there was no change, but I am worried. The bumps on only on the top of her head, they do not seem to be bothering her, and she is acting normally. The bumps are white and the largest one is slightly larger than a ballpoint pen point.

Thoughts on what this is? Please advise if you know.

I honestly would take her to the vet. I just rescued a great dane puppy from bad situations and she had white bumps one on her eyelid, a few on her legs and a few on her nose. I didn't know what they were come to find out they were ant bites. But I would take her to the vet just to see.

Hmm. . . I would guess that they may be bite marks from the other puppy or her littermates. But that is JUST a guess. How long have you had them? Do they play rough together? I would have your vet check them out and watch for any changes, bleeding, etc.

I took them to the vet today and the vet said they were skin infections -- although she said they normally were not so hard. I have antibiotics for her now and hopefully she will be cured in the next few weeks. Thanks to you both for your responses.

I was guessing a either a staph infection or pyoderma am I correct... if so make sure you finish all the meds and if it isn't totally cleared up when the meds run out ask the vet for a refill as it can reoccur

Skin infections are often caused by allergies.... unfortunately tis the seasion for mold and pollen YUCK!
