Am I Contagious?

I have a cold and was wondering if this would be contagious to Cleo. I am taking normal precautions, washing hands, and I am not getting close more than necessary for feeding and cage cleaning. Unfortunately, he doesn’t understand why I am avoiding him and I feel mean. Has anyone ever heard of a companion bird catching a human’s cold?

you could be contagious, just don't kiss his beak and washing your hands is great. also birds understand you when you tell them what is up, i always talk to my birdies a week before i leave somewhere (vacation) letting them know i will be gone, but i'm coming back, you could talk to cleo and tell him you have a cold that is why you can't come too close like you always do, i know this sounds silly, but they really do understand you.
