I hate to admit this, but I do spoil our Male Golden Retriever, Kodi, with a little Cookie Dough Icecream every once in a while. But I must say that now, I have created a monster, and he sits and looks pitiful (ok its begging) whenever I have any kind of icecream. What can I say, he is spoiled

I can see why you would spoil Kodi so bad...he is a great looking pet there! Glad to see your husband too! lol

Awe what a cutie pie!
As long as he tolerates it and it isn't all the time, I don't think it is a problem.

Oh I am the same way with Riley. Whenever we go out for ice cream I always get him a small vanilla. :p At home he gets an ice cream cone with whipped cream in it, after he does his routine of tricks of course :D

Your Kodi is beautiful or I guess I should say handsome. How old is he? How much does he way? My Zachareigh celebrated his ninth birthday this year. He is starting to slow down a little bit but his puppiness springs out once in a while. He is a total momma's boy. Love him to pieces.

Anywho about the ice cream, a couple times during the summer, I get baby vanilla soft serve cones from Dairy Queen for the poopers. They go nuts for it. I have also gotten them frosty paws but they don't seem to like that as much! It is very HARD not to spoil them, isn't it?

I've read that people who's dog's are epileptic will sometimes give their little ones a small bit of vanilla ice cream after they've had a seizure....I believe they claim that something in it helps lessen the post-ictal phase (the period immediately following a seizure when a dog appears to feel dazed out). By the time I learned about this, my Bootsie's seizures had slowed up considerably (she had not seized in over 3 months.) Not sure if it works, but I'm sure the dogs like it, lol. ;)

I had bought Bootsie some of those Vanilla Pops for dogs....they look like ice cubes, and are touted as a frozen treat for pooches. Those were immediately taken away, though, when Bootsie began to choke on the first one. Instead, I went to the dollar store and bought a popsicle mold, filled it with a water and organic/low-salt chicken broth mixture, and froze that. Too big to choke on and Bootsie loved them!

Lol, I almost forgot to add....

Every year on Bootsie's birthday (before she was diagnosed with an impaired liver), we made our annual Burger King or Arbys Drive Up Window run, lol.

My little girl, Coco, however, has an allergy to beef. What to do?
I took Coco to Stone Cold Creamery! (Coco has a particular fondness for Cake Batter Ice Cream)!

(There's nothing like the look a dog gets on his/her little face as it tries out what's proffered on that outstretched spoon, lol)!!!! PRICELESS! :D

The only human treat Magnum gets is when we go to Sheridans for frozen custard. We haven't been since Bu has left us, but we plan to take him one more time before we move. We would go through the drive thru and they have Canine Cones for our spoiled pooches. Bu and Magnum would sit facing each other and lick the cone together. It was so cute to see a huge Dobe and a Toy Poodle sharing their cone. Magnum is fully capable of hogging the whole thing with his enormous tongue, compared to Bu's, but he was so considerate towards her. Bu's tongue was so fast, I think she made out in the deal.... :)

Huh, very interesting and what a great idea with the chicken pop. Very easy and affordable and I bet my poopers would love it. I shall try it. Thanks.

Magnum you paint a precious picture of Bu and Magnum. I never did ask you but how is Magnum handling everything? I hope things are getting a bit easier for all of you. (((Hugs))) again.

When we go to DQ for puppy cones, Hana and Aiya lick them daintily, savoring each lick. Zach and Shaggee take ONE lick and attempt to consume the entire cone and its contents in one big CHOMP. Wonder if they get brain freeze? LOL

He is about 4 years old and weighs about 70 lbs. Our Vet is very happy with his weight. He is a stocky boy, even thought I call him Fat Butt..lol, his coat is what makes him look big. He is absolutely the best dog. Laid back and friendly to all who meet him.. We have to watch out when we take him outside, for everone wants to steal him from us...he is just our big 70 lb baby... :p

FDA Issues Nationwide Alert on Possible Health Risk Associated with Cold Stone Creamery "Cake Batter" Ice Cream
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is alerting the public that products containing "cake batter" ice cream sold at Cold Stone Creamery stores throughout the country may be associated with an outbreak of Salmonella Typhimurium infection in several states. After being informed by FDA of the potential contamination problem, Cold Stone Creamery has agreed to immediately remove all "cake batter" ice cream products from its stores throughout the country. Consumers who may have purchased take home products from Cold Stone Creamery containing "cake batter" ice cream should not eat them, but instead dispose of them immediately.

"FDA is working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and our state partners to determine the source of the contaminated product and is issuing this alert to protect the public," said Dr. Robert Brackett, Director of the FDA's Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition."

Salmonella Typhimurium is an organism, which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in small children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy people may only suffer short-term symptoms, such as high fever, severe headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Long term complications can include arthritis.

The ice cream's possible contamination with this organism came to light after multiple cases of infection with this form of Salmonella were reported in late May and early June, 2005 in Minnesota, Washington, Oregon and Ohio. To date, 14 people are ill from this unusual strain of Salmonella. Many of the people reporting this illness also reported consuming "cake batter" ice cream at a Cold Stone Creamery shortly before the onset of their illness.

Individuals who believe they have become ill as a result of eating this ice cream should consult their health care provider and contact their local health department.

FDA will keep the public aware as more information develops.

Geeez, sorry I forgot to say thank you Amstaff for posting this release! ;) I have never been to a Cold Stone Creamery, so I guess I will not be in a big hurry to go to one now.

Thanks Molly. :) I had to laugh at your wonder....LOL. I think they do get a brain freeze. Bu was lightening lips, but she would occasionally stop in mid-slurp. I just assumed she would get one, so I would give her a zip of water. She rarely let Magnum get 3 licks in before she was back at it.

They do sell dog ice cream at Wal-mart & safeway. Its called Frosty Paws and is made by Dreyer's icecream. Dogs love it and it is much better for them to digest. Get your dog his own icecream. They LOVE it and it is not bad for them.

All of our animals know what ice cream is. Everyone (including the cat) gets their licks. Sometimes I skip ice cream because it is just to much serving everyone. LOL

You're welcome Georgia! It really is funny though-- our cat who never ever mouched has done a total 90^ turn around and is such a mouch. She sees the birds eating what we have for dinner and she has made it very clear that if the birds can have people food then why can't she?!!

Don't mention the I/C word as now she has to have her very own little bowl with a small amount in there so she can eat along with everyone else. When she hears the spoon scrape the bottom of my dish she is right there hanging out on my arm letting me know that she must have the last licks from my bowl. She is 14 1/2 years old so I've decided that it is time she gets a little spoiling.
