My cat Cinnamon has had her tummy fur (only) about 1/2 in. or less long for about 2 months now. The rest of her fur is normal length for short haired cat. It looks like someone used clippers on her. She's an indoor cat so I dont she how it could have happened. I cant figured out what happened and I not sure if its growing any.

Is there any possiblilty she could be pregnant? When a cat is pregnant she pulls fur from her tummy so its easier for kittens to get to the milk, but then of course she would be getting fat and be getting milk. She'd also be giving birth soon too. I don't know, other than that maybe its something just as simple as she's getting hot?

I don't know either....maybe it is a genetic thing. As long as she is healthy otherwise then I would not worry about but it does make you wonder huh?

She is fixed and has never done this before. She is roughly 7 yrs old.

Loki was doing this recently. My vet explained that he was slightly stressed by the dog in the house, and was grooming constantly as a way to calm down. Since he wasn't grooming himself bald, she simply let it go, and his hair is slowly growing back out on his tummy.
I'm not saying that's definitely the cause... but it could be a possibility. If you're really concerned, maybe you should give the vet a ring and ask? :)

my cat did that and they (vet) said it was ok and that it would eventually grow in fully
