We have a Lab/Pit 10 month old pup who recently has exhibited small red dots in his groin and inner legs. They look a lot like what poison ivy looks like on humans, small red pimple like things. They are very itchy and he licks them constantly. Are they flea bites ? Can dogs get poison ivy? We have alot on the property. Also, we have a Border Collie who does not seem to be affected even though they both travel the same places when out.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Could be an allergy of some sort. Keep a close eye on him while he's out to see what he's getting in to. In the mean time, there are some excellent anti-itch (hydrocortisone) sprays out there, get yourself some and keep an eye on it. If it gets worse, take him to the vet. My Lab had major skin allergies, figured out it was her food, switched foods and walla, no more allergies.
Good luck.

Febreeze causing dog rashes? That's interesting, I've never heard such a thing... in fact, it's labelled as completely pet safe.

Odiegirl is right.....sometimes it's easy to forget that the products that we've used every day for years and years with no consequence can have a devastating consequence to our pets.

Have a look at this:

PS.... Hi Carrie....hope you are doing well.....have missed you :)

PPS....My little dog, Coco gets the very same red bumps on her groin/inner leg area. In Coco's case, these are allergy related.

I try not to use the cortisone very much, because I'm just so leary anymore about the effects it can have later.

There's a product called "Animal Aloe" that I put on Coco, and she really seems to feel better once I apply it. Also, it's supposed to be very safe. It says it can even be used inside of an animals mouth.
