My dogs need some help! They are very anxious/submissive dogs. We are working on behavioral training, but that's a slow process...meantime, they pant, pace, pee, and pratically sit on my lap everywhere I go. I've read about a couple of "natural" calming agents that you can buy out of pet magazines or online. Has anyone used them? Good or bad comments about them? Do they work? Our next step is to get something prescription through the vet...all those medications have bad that come with the good....

I've used Rescue Remedy on one of my cats because he would smash his face on the crate door for vet visits so the last vet visit I gave him RR before putting him in the crate and he was still nervous but alot less than usual and no face bashing. I've given it to both of my dogs once as well when I brought home a dog I was doggie-sitting. From what I could tell it did make a difference and seemed to help calm them alot.
Your situation seems a bit more severe. I would ask your vet about Rescue Remedy as well as other alternative calming agents.
