My puppy is 6 months old. One of his testicles still hasn't dropped. I was planning on breeding and now I'm not sure what I should do. I've been to two vets. One wants me to neuter him asap, the other says to wait because the canal is still open but isn't very optimistic. His breeder says she's had males drop as late as a year old and to wait it out.

I think if it doesn't drop by a year I'll definatly neuter him because I know the cancer risk is greater. Do I have any hope at all of it dropping by then though?

Dogs like humans can mature a little later.
There is no text book answer. He could
just be running a little late. Every dog like
us is different and unique. That's part of
the reason I think they are so great.

That's my view on it. My suggestion wait
it out. He is just a late bloomer. lol.

Best of Luck.

lol ok thanks. I can feel it, it's right near his leg and the canal is still open.

His vet had me so worried saying he will get cancer and I need to get him fixed asap. But then again I have other people telling me it could drop late.

Wait it out a little longer but if it does'nt drop soon I would take your vets advice and have him neutered. As far as I'm aware this is genetic and this dog should not be bred if his testicle does not drop.
