I am considering fashioning something like a flight suit for Angel - thinking that when she goes to pluck, having something on that area will help prevent the plucking.

Can someone please explain to me how their bird's flight suit fastens? Does it fasten loosely around the neck and under the wings or just around neck? How does the bottom of it fasten?

Angel is still plucking - I think it is now more of an attention getting ploy - even though I am not responding. So, I am still having that problem with her. The area has gotten bigger and I worry about her being cold in the winter which is fast on the way. It is just a few days after labor day here in NJ and it is already cold and damp.

Diane, here's another website where this lady has a Muloccan Cockatoo that is a feather plucker. She made him a vest/collar and said that if someone needs instructions on how to make it, she can help. Hope you'll find this helpful.

Hi,

Thanks Casegura and Amanda - I will most certainly check these sites out.

Last night I tried what you suggested Casegura - I would catch Angel in her pre-plucking stages and I would distract her and I
also used the word NO in a firm voice when I thought she was thinking of plucking. She did not pluck when I held her - or when she was on cage door. However, after I covered her for bedtime, I did hear one or two plucks........but I think that was an effort to
get attention - I did not respond.

Amanda, are you done with all exams now? Missed you here on site. How did you do on them? I bet you aced them all. Now you just have the state test left if I remember correctly. Good Luck with it!
