This is Spike's new cage that Kenny bought today at PetLand. It's a not too good of a pic, so I'll explain a little bit. The cage door goes up, & it comes down automactially, so Spikey'll have a hard time going out. The food dishes are in the front too, so he won't try to knock them down. I think it's a pretty good cage, but me & Kenny want something that'll keep the cage door open when we're there, so that Spike could go in & out as he pleases, just like in his old cage. Any suggestons would be nice, & I hope y'all like the pic. :)

Nikki - use a safety pin to hold the cage door open. That is what I do with Woodstock.

I never thought of that. I'll see if they have any safety pins. If not I know I have them at my house, since my grandpa's a tailor. :)

Tell Kenny I am proud of him for buying Spike a new cage. Looks just like the one he vacationed in at my house. LOL I am sure Spike will just love it. I use one of those hair clips to hold Tweety's door from falling open on her second cage in front of the window.

Maybe a twisty (the ones off bread bags) or buy some pipe wire...just make sure you wind it enough so he doesn't chew it
This worked on my birds cage.

Kenny got two of that same cage, so when I come over his house for a few days, all I have to do is bring Spikey in his carrier, & bring his toys in my suitcase. His mom even bought bird food, so that he'll have some when we're here. :)

Great cage Nikki...I use a clothes pin to hold open the doors around here. And you got 2 cages...how cool!!!! Spike is spoiled for sure now!.LOL

Thanks everyone. :) I found one way to keep Spike's new cage door open - use one of those twisty ties that come w/the garbage. He's starting to chew on it though, so I always have to keep an eye on him. :p

Nikki, this is what I was using on Luther's original cage. It is stainless steel and is at most hardware stores, or even pet stores too.

Magnum that is a neat little gadget! I think I will get a few just for the birds to play with as they are stainless steel.

I really like them Diane. I attach them to the toys with small zip-ties and it makes moving them around the cage real simple. They are very strong and can hold a lot of weight too. ;)

I also agree, that's a nifty little clip. I might look into that, so that Spike's cage stays open, & that he doesn't try to knock down his toys. :p

I found the solution to keeping Spike's new cage door open. I just use a little clip that you put on potato chip bags to keep them fresh. It stays perfect, & Spike doesn't try to chew on it. :p
