I'm an active member of Mid-Atlantic German Shorthaired Pointer Rescue. I've owned GSPs for 33 years. Best dog and best friend I've ever had. I have one GSP of my own and generally have a rescue at the house. I've seen it all, from abused dogs to owner turn-ins for any number of reasons. Maybe we can swap dog behavior stories and give each other some help. One thing I've learned is that most dogs do better when they have a buddy. Two dogs are definitely better than one. Goes a long way toward curing separation anxiety; they have a buddy to play with, get more exercise, and generally live longer and healthier.

Glad to meet you! I don't currently have a dog but instead I have six birds, a lizard, a salamander, and a cat. That's wonderful to hear that you are involved in dog rescue. Any particular reason why you chose to go with german short-haired pointers?
hi rusum,
i have 3 parrots, and agree with you that 2 dogs are better than 1, some goes with birds only if they aren't in the same cage, buddies are the best especially if you work!!

Hi Rusum,
Welcome. I'm new too and I think this is great. I agree with what you said about having 2 dogs. My dogs, Milo and Otis, have been best buddies since we brought Otis home. Milo was a year old at the time and he literally foamed at the mouth in excitement, but he was so gentle with him when he was tiny. Now they wrestle and have great fun together! My cat tolerates them both! --Nancy

It is a good site. We can share experiences with pooches and maybe help one another. Thanx. Jean
