I think moderators should be helpful with advice, and not rude to members. If this is how moderators are chosen, there's obviously something wrong here.

Thank you Amanda. We do our best. I've been a moderator since the beginning and I've never had a complaint until now so maybe it's not the moderators that are the problem. By the way, I agree with your new thread. I am staying out of it for now but it is being monitored very closely.

I agree with you amanda622...the moderators are doing a terrific job...It is not one that I would relish..I agree this forum is for people who are sharing the experience with their pets...and who are trying to get helpful advice ...We all believe we have the best interest in caring for our pets...I say lets stop the put downs and give the modertors A HUGE PAT ON THE BACK for a job well done....

Can't we all just get along??? LOL. I do not envy you moderators.. It seems like these threads are all carry overs from a previous one. I do have a suggestion: Whoever may be interested in carrying this on, try searching other threads for someone who could use some help. Or maybe go the funny bone and read some jokes, pet portrait central and look at some pics and before you know it all the hard feelings will be buried deep in the forums. We can start fresh and enjoy what I think is a great site (JUST A SUGGESTION).. When I found this site it was very apealing, if I was a guest searching the forums now I would think twice about joining. I have no regrets myself and hope any guest searching forums find good threads and overlook the bickering going on, there are lots of good threads here.

I have given a lot of thought about whether I should even reply to this thread or not. However I do wish to thank amanda622 and jonesy zoo for their kind words of support for the board moderators. Moderating is a tough job, you are right about that petpeever - but it has to be done, and sometimes things get out of hand/control & even downright nasty. At times things must be said on the same level of the offender in order to get thru. It can be a ? of choosing to ignore or choosing whether a stand must be taken. I could not stand by and see a new member treated as she was. Maybe someone looking at this site and debating whether to join or not will reason that "Hmmmmmm ....... even though there is bickering going on.... it is in support of a new member and the treatment a new member should receive. I like the fact that a moderator/member will stick up for someone she doesn't even know."
Again I am very sorry that this caused such controversy on the board, but have to say that as one human being to another (not a moderator) we should not stand by and watch another human being be treated like this. It would be a much better world if we could all help and assist each other in a friendly, non judgmental manner. I am not looking to turn this into another one of "those" threads so therefore this is all I plan to say here and will not be hashing out or arguing this out any further. Thanks again for the support.

Good golly... what have I missed! lol.... please remember, this is a great board with wonderful members who care about the animals. Its ok to agree to disagree... but in the end its all for our furry, feathery and scaley friends. I must apologize I haven't been on much lately because I've been so busy :( . Thanks to the other mods for doing a great job and for all the support from you members... you're what makes this board great!. I miss you guys!

PS: I also think you'd make a fine mod Python :D .

I think the moderators are wonderful here!! They personally have been a tremendous help for me, especially when I first joined. I came from a strict rescue board environment and really had my guns cocked when I started to post here. They helped me to understand that there are going to be opinions that will rub me wrong, but no one is perfect, there are many different ideas and solutions, and loving your pet is the main focus here. I see my previous attitude from the "closed" threads and am thankful I no longer have my eyes closed to the diversity in us all.

I used to be a little jealous of the mods, since I was here from the beginning too, and I just happened to miss the chance, but I think you guys do a great job. If you ever need another I'd love to take the job, but you're great, and I don't think you really need me. The mods have always been helpful and friendly to me.

Thanks Jaylene, and I think you would be a great moderator. Mr. Petlover pm'd us and asked if we'd like to be moderators and if I recall, he asked us because we were keeping him abreast of the bad posts and because of the amount of posts we'd made at that point. In other words, we have no life except for this board. :D If he ever needs another moderator and asks our opinion, I think I can speak for us all in saying we'd name you. ;)

I guess I am totally out of it and have not a clue as to what happened but I have to put my two cents in here. Moderators don't get the credit they deserve most of the time. Neither do they get the thanks that they deserve. Sometimes moderating is a thankless job. I would hope and I choose to believe that everyone here certainly appreciates the moderators we have and I have NEVER seen the moderators post anything rude, offensive or mean to anyone. I do know, like Squawks said, that there are certain topics where we agree to disagree but for the most part this forum is very tame and pleasing to be a part of. Good Lord you should have seen some of the Great Dane forums I used to belong to - LOL! Now those people can get downright MEAN!!

I am new here and was honestly a little concerned with my first post.
I have posted on other message boards in the past two years just trying to find others who love their pets as much as me and will let me boast about my fur babies. I was treated poorly on one and the others seemed to be only flaim threads and people putting each other down for so many things. So far I have been welcomed warmly and I appreciate it. I like it here so far and hope that it stays warm and welcoming as I believe it will. It's nice to be able to go to a board and proudly brag about your pets ;P and get wonderful advice and just meet others with the same interests. :) I thank the mods on here for being so nice to me. Again you just don't know how hard it is to find a board for pets that isn't a flame magnet. :)

Ps. I hope I didn't offend anyone with this post. I promise it is all a big thumbs up for this board.

Been a mod a long time heh, this is the first complaint I've really seen. We do try to keep things from getting.. out of hand. It can be difficult! x_x

I try to help and give advice, but I can't really help much with animals other than parrots. :p

Allright John....*high five* that was a gooooood one ...... hahahahahaha...couldn't have done better myself. We (mods) don't always catch things early that are really not fitting for this forum so any help from members is appreciated. The sooner we catch the problem the better. So please feel free to PM any moderater and it will be looked into. This is a happy, helpfull, pet loving forum and our goal is to keep it that way!!!! Thanks for everyones support!!! P.S. the mods are dlaura, 'too crazy, Kaye, krazy4birds, and Squawksx3. Squawks will be unavailable for a short time as she is in the process of moving....we will let you know when she is back!

John you'd make a great moderator! ;) I'm personally really glad she started this thread. Not a single complaint except from her. We try to let everyone voice their opinion and only step in when things start getting ugly or if we have a troll. By the way John, I think she took your advice. WHA-HOO! :D

with all of my experience of running very large forums, I know that each community is different. So each community needs to be handled differently. Every mod has to be stern with members sometimes, so you will get some members who just don't get it, so they will think the mod is 'power hungry' or just plain mean. Unfornetly no matter how much we'd like for every human to actually get along with others, there are some people that just don't mix well with a certain type/community. When that happens, the mods just have to do their job..that's what they are here for.

On behalf of all us moderators, I would like to thanks you all for your kind words. Moderating this group is pretty easy because everyone here is so caring. You guys are the best! ;)
