hi, im going to Thiland in about a week, and my friend is watching my guniea pigs. I've already wrote a hole "info" book on how to take care of them, and stuff... and i have a page on "what you can feed them", and "what you can't", and for the "what you can't feed them" i put:
1)ice burg lettuce
2)celery
3)nuts/seeds
4)candy,people food(cooked stuff)
5)meat(guniea pigs are stricktly vegetarians)
....am i missing anything?

To make it easier on the 'sitter' make a list of foods they can eat and give strict orders for nothing else...they are vegetarian. You may tell him/her that they are very similar to rabbits--as far as food goes, he/she may be able to relate better that way...they can eat celery if it is chopped up into little pieces...the problem with celery is those long string-like strands and piggies can choke on them) if cut up you illiminate that problem...mine enjoy it as an occassional treat--they much prefer the leaves from the celery.
Good luck and bon voyage
