I never saw anything like that in my life! I am going to check it out in more detail later. Is this legal? Well.....I guess it must be or it would not be on there..

Using the term Puppy Mill really is not quite fitting anymore. Animal Mills is more like it anymore. This whole concept goes against every ounce of care a breeder or pet owner should have for the animals they are auctioning. What type of screening will they do to the winning bidder? What about getting it to the winning bidder...good ol' air freight in the belly of a plane. Ugh, this is sickening!!

OMG hopeful, I was just getting on to post about this. I got an email today to join and I went to check it out to see if it's for real. This totally makes me sick! I wonder what we can do, there has to be something! Even if we all email these people and tell them how wrong this is. Where is John Olexa? Hey John, we need you!!

I personally think any breeder who belongs to any registry and auctions such as this should be fined by the registry & lose their membership permanently!

I just picked someone out and sent them a email just asking a question.
I want to see what the response is.

I also forwarded the site to Amy @ Peta

John,

Thank you for contacting PETA about this horrible Web site.

We share your concerns about this important issue, and I have shared your e-mail message with the appropriate PETA staff members. Unfortunately, it is legal to operate such a Web site, and if the site is not in violation of the host’s user agreement, no law is being violated, and the site can remain up.

As you know, auctioning animals like trinkets does nothing to hold individuals accountable for the vast responsibilities associated with companion animal guardianship. A transfer of money is not a guarantee of a lifetime commitment, as people who buy animals often quickly become disenchanted with them once they realize the time and resources they will have to expend to properly care for them. Even “protected” auctions do little to actually screen a prospective buyer , and answers that might suffice on a form are certainly no substitute for conducting a home check and the other steps that are imperative in ensuring that an animal’s new home is an ideal one. Further, those who exploit animals for profit are not likely to expend a great deal of time and energy searching for a good home for an animal.

You can, however, file a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) at fccinfo@fcc.gov, being sure to stress the unethical and downright dangerous (for humans and animals alike) reality of buying and selling animals online, and live shipping them. Perhaps, with enough complaints, this site will be removed permanently.

The Department of Justice recently developed a new division for investigating Internet crime (please go to http://www.usdoj.gov/criminal/cybercrime/ to learn more about this program). To obtain a form for submitting complaints in the event you suspect that a Web site involves actual, rather than insinuated, abuse of or cruelty to animals, go to http://www.usdoj.gov/criminal/cybercrime/reporting.htm. Additionally, the following Web page provided by the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) deals with cruelty to animals on the Internet and should be helpful to you: http://www.hsus.org/ace/11813.

For more information about how you can help animals, please visit PETA’s Web site http://www.AnimalActivist.com. Also, please download our Stop the Pet Trade Pack at: http://www.helpinganimals.com/angel-petpack.html for more information on how you can help these animals.

Thanks again for bringing this issue to our attention and for all you do to help animals!

Sincerely,

Amy R. Black

While I do agree with the fact that auctioning off animals is disgusting and should be outlawed - the other stuff that they have on the site (dog food, drawings....) should be over on ebay.
