Tomorrow night, America's #1 rated TV drama, CSI, will feature a storyline about one of the ugliest forms of animal cruelty, canned hunting. Canned hunting is the killing of a fenced-in animal who has no chance of escape, for the sole purpose of obtaining a trophy. That's right: animals -- often tame, exotic mammals -- are put into an enclosure for rich individuals to "hunt." It is as horrible as you can imagine.

The above and following link is from the HSUS email I received today. If you have not sent a message to your representative, this link will help send a message for you. Thanks so much!!

Yep, thats about as bad as it can get! :( I even know some hunters who don't like it. Even they say thats going to far. All the animal rights groups know about it. Defenders of Wildlife are working hard on this to.

I just don't GET IT! Where is the sport or pleasure in "hunting" a caged animal??? I don't get hunting period, but that is outrageous!!

I remember when I moved to Virginia and saw all kinds of dogs running along the highways and roads here wearing orange collars or radio collars. I asked what was up with that?? Come to find out it is legal to hunt everything (including deer) with dogs here. The "hunters" release their pack of dogs in the woods and the dogs run the deer out to them to shoot. I couldn't believe that was legal!! I had never heard of that type of hunting in my life. Some sport huh?

To top it off the dogs are constantly being hit by cars or never picked back up by their owners and left to run wild. Ohhhhhh don't get me going on this...I'll never shut up!!

We have one of these about 3 miles from our house. They have elk, moose and buffalo in there although I haven't seen the moose in about 3 years. There was a big stink about it because this thing is right by peoples houses but it's still in operation.

A Note About Email: While email is convenient, it is simply not as effective as your phone call or mailed letter. Our contacts on the Hill tell us that emails are the least effective type of constituent communication they receive. So we urge you to personalize your letter, print it out, and mail it in to your Congress person /Senator, as well as pick up the phone and make a call. We urge you to take those extra steps for the animals’ sake. Thank you!

I swear where does the ego trip end? Shesh I don't agree or disagree with hunting for food, god knows I know what it's like to be hungry, but I would NEVER take a little animals lives to feed myself, but I don't agree or disagree with doing it...But there is no other reason for trofey hunting but EGO ...SHESH Go work out or something...LOL

I've heard about that...I don't see why it's allowed, it should be considered animal cruelty.

there is a tv show called Real Tv--some of you may watch it. anyway i was watching about a year ago and they had a survelliance(sp?) video of a canned hunt in TEXAS! they were trying to shut them down and make arrests. so someone wore a hidden camera.

it showed them release a black leopard from a cage. the cat made it 10 feet before they released 20 dogs on it then after about 10 minutes of trying to fight the dogs, the hunter finally shot the cat. everyone was so proud and excited-- woohoo-- you shot an engangered animal being attacked by dogs at point blank. how is that hunting.

everyone involved was arrested and i forget how long they got but i know it was a long time.

that video was so disturbing. i actually had nightmares.
