laid 6 eggs. We found them in the nesting box as we were cleaning the cage on sunday. I haven't noticed her sitting on them at all. I have candled them and there are several of them that look as though they are fertile.

My question is will she begin to sit on them or is she doing this at night when it is bed time...

Any answers will help!

Thanks

I'm not the expert on parakeets, but after she lays all the eggs, she SHOULD sit on the eggs. For cockatiels, alot of the time, the female sits on the eggs at night, and the male takes over in the morning so she can bathe and eat. Do you have a male? DONT put your hands in the nesting box after she lays eggs. If she wont sit on them, try putting her near the nesting box, or let her see the eggs. When my tiels first went in the nesting box, it was becuase I placed them near the entrance, and they peeked inside, and decided to go in (possibly just out of curiousness). If I were you, I would look this up on the net, or borrow a book about budgies from the library. Cause IF she doesnt sit on the eggs, and IF the eggs are fertile, and IF you want babies than make sure you find some way to keep the eggs warm or something.

I agree with Sky there. The eggs need to be kept warm if they are fertile. Good luck to you!
