Gilbertdoug,
You're afraid your parents are going to throw a fit? It would seem to me that you should be more concerned about how horribly sad they're going to feel when they find out!
How do you feel about Rudy's death?

Tell them now....I feel it is their right to know what happened to their beloved pet.
God forbid something happened to you, they wouldn't want someone to wait until they got home to tell them.
Letting them know now will lessen the severity of the situation when they see you at home.
Be brave.....this is not a pleasant situation, but you have to step in.

Gilbert: Did you decide to tell your parents ahead of time (before they come home)?

i am torn with regret but haven't told them. they are due in fri. evening. i seriously think its giving me an ulcer. i get very angry with myself, and feel responsible. i have just been trying to think of a good way to put it to them.
god, its frustrating.

i'd wait and tell them when they get home. nothing they can do about it now, and like you said, why spoil their trip?
