My lovebird I think may be sick, but I'm not sure if I need to take it to the vet. It's nostrials are sometimes wet, but not often. She sneezes alot. She is very happy though and eats normally. Should i still take her to the vet? I've had her for a little over a month. Thanks

I would take her to the vet as soon as I could. My lovebird never sneezes and her nostrils are never wet.

Please let us know what happens.

Hey, that's some name you picked there, lol.

I don't think I have the money right now. Do you think she could recover on her own?

Hi there....you can go to the pet shop and see if you can find Ornacycline (a tetracycline antibiotic for birds) it costs approxmately $3.59. I have used it for one of my keets and it was great. I keep a whole pack in the refrigerator in case one of my birds gets sick. My vet approved it, too.

It aids in the treatment of respiratory and intestinal bacterial infections of pet birds.

It's definitely worth a try. You can dissolve a tablet in the bird's water dish, but make that their only source of water. You have to clean out the water dish each day because there may be a bacteria build-up.

Speaking of bacteria, sounds like your bird has a bacterial infection....so try the Ornacycline...shouldn't hurt.

(directions for use is in the package).

My Goffin had a bacterial infection a few months ago. We got up one morning and he was sneezing and had goobers across his beak. I took him to the vet and he stuck a small syringe in each nostril and washed them out with antibiotics, then sent antibiotics home. The vet also said that small seeds can get stuck in the nostril and can cause major problems. Hope your lovebird gets better soon.

My luvy Scherzo had something one day and was sneezing and the little feathers around his cere were wet. I couldn't get him to the vet and other than that eveyrthing was fine, and by the next day whatever the problem was, it had cleared up. It's possible that your luvy was just regurgitating, but if he's sneezing and stuff than that might not be the case. O my- I just realized that this is a new person and not Love Bird B! How funny. Anyway, try what the others suggested and if nothing's cleared up in 24 hrs. I'd try to get him to the vet. Like Gail said, you can probably figure out some sort of payment plan that works. If you have a heat lamp you might put it over his cage with a towel covering half the cage so he can get as warm or cool as he wants.

Well my love bird's doing much better. I just bought some Ornacycline yesterday. I don't think I'll have to take her to the vet. If she gets sick again soon I probably will. Thanks for everyones advice.
