Hi:

Since my little keet died I have recently purchased a new one....he seems to be rather young considering all his black bars are still very prominent on his head. However, he seems to be spastic - he is all over the cage every minute of the day....he is hanging upside down from the top of the cage bobbing his head all over the place......my other one was very quiet and came to me immediately when I first got him and was so sweet.

Is this behaviour with the new keet normal.....I have only owned the 2 birds in my life and am just learning I just can't believe the difference between the 2 birds, this one barely takes time out to spend much time eating he is so busy all the time....I suppose he's having a good time he seems okay....but looks like he will be hard to train because he is so flighty.

Thanks
Cheryl

I would say that birds are like us...they all have their own personalities...he may be a little harder to get his attention span to a learning level but he sounds like a little ball of fun! Good luck

A very active bird does not necessarily mean a hard to train bird. My budgie is also very active, and he prefers to be out of the cage flying around than eating. Nonetheless, when he gets tired and hungry, he will return to his cage.

Sometimes, I think a budgie that is too active and too friendly may be a nuisance because he ALWAYS wants to be a part of what you do, instead of playing with his own toys for a change. I guess I shouldn't be complaining, as some of the owners complain that their birds are kind of apathetic and non-engaging :-)

My Keet would rather stay in his cage then anything. Once I get him out and away from his cage (I have to take him to a different room) he is fine and flys around and chirps.
