I swear he is! I came home from work tonight, and no sooner did I sit down to the computer with some brocolli, then Woodstock was at his seed dish looking for his. He has been sitting at his cup, eating the brocolli for about the past fifteen minutes.

I just mixed up Woodstock's seeds in the cup, sat down, and he was back at his dish eating. I suppose eating veggies is better than eating millet. It is actually funny to watch him eat it. He leaves the dish for a whopping five seconds, when he looks like he is thinking "What if there is more in there that I missed? Must go back and check." Then he picks at the seeds for a few minutes, and leaves the dish for a whopping five seconds and it is a Deja Vu.

That's funny draper. You could probably introduce more new veggies because of the broccoli. Try adding very small amounts of very finely chopped veggies in with the broccoli and see if he eats it. Another idea is to dip the broccoli into organic baby food and then give it to him. Bright orange/yellow fleshy veggies are very good for our birds in addition to green leafy veggies such as kale, chard, brocolli, spinich. I buy sweet potato, winter squash and yam organic baby food and mix it in with his spouted seeds, which he absolutely adores. That way I know he's getting those bright coloured veggies even when he's not a big fan of eating them. It's a very messy affair as well, but worth it to know that he's getting the nutrition he needs. Good Luck with your broccoli addicted keet!
Cheers, Tamara

Today Woodstock was poking his head in his food dish and was chirping at me (his dish is clear, and facing where I am sitting). Then he was leaving his head in the dish, but under those things that cover it, and chirping at me. He seemed like he was looking for his fresh veggies! To bad I ate the rest of them. Looks like I will be grocery shopping tomorrow.

I have a very happy bird who is eagerly munching on fresh brocolli. I recommend to anyone that has a small bird to try cutting up brocolli into very small pieces and putting it in there bish. You will have a happy bird on your hands if you do!

I just finished putting away some groceries, and before I put away the brocolli, I decided to cut some up for Woodstock. Well, I took his dish out of his cage and walked around to the kitchen to put the goodies into his cup, and was he watching me like a HAWK while I did it. It was quite funny to watch him scamper around his cage to get the best possible view. As soon as I put it in his dish back in his cage, he was trying to get down to it ASAP and by the time I was three feet away, he was chowing down. Can veggies make a bird fat?

Brocoli is a good source of calcium which is good for parrots. But, you don't want to over do it. Too much calcium may lead to problems. My avian vet recommends the folowing nutritional guidline, as far as table food goes: "Don't offer the same table food item more than 3 days per week." Spice it up and offer variety. Offer foods with Vitamin A, Vitamin D, Calcium, etc...but all in moderation.
Just food for thought.
