 I've got two budgies, Fido and Ticonderoga. Even though I have never assaulted them, they seem to be very afraid of me. I've only had them a couple months, but still, everytime I open the cage, or change the food tray, they flap for their lives. Does anyone know how long it will take them to adjust to me?

Would it be easier to put them in separate cages and try to train them separately? Just my thoughts because right now they are bonded to each other instead of you.

chirpy is probably right Bagoftoes....when you seperate them you have a better chance of one on one. It may take a little while but don't give up!

Maybe try easing you hand into the cage and leaving it motionless for awhile. Then take it out, close the cage and talk to your budgies. Then repeat the process again and again. I know it sounds arduous, but budgies work on trust... so you may need to work very slowly with them.

I got two baby budgies about 4 weeks ago - I bought them together - I used this method with them - lots of repetitive, slow actions. My budgies are now at the stage where I can stroke and catch them in the cage with no hassles, they don't put up any fuss.

Try the repetitions and see how you go.
